3rd International Gender Studies in Turkey Conference
3rd International Gender Studies in Turkey Conference took place at Sabancı Center on 6–7 December. Bringing together numerous academics, researchers, and civil society representatives from Türkiye and abroad, the conference opened with a keynote by Banu Gökarıksel, titled “Care at the Border: Feminist Geographies of Refugee Resettlement and the Humanitarian Paradox.” The conference featured 52 papers presented across panels addressing a wide range of topics from a gender perspective, including politics, migration, space, psychology, health, the body, family, labor, violence, masculinities, literature, and art. With 16 sessions and 6 workshops, the conference welcomed more than 300 participants in total. The sessions explored the relationships between gender, power, and transformation; experiences of resilience and labor; intimacy, violence, and empowerment; as well as possibilities for solidarity and resistance against anti-gender movements. 2nd International Gender Studies in Turkey Conference took place at Minerva Han on 7–8 December. The conference, which opened with a keynote by Ayşe Kadıoğlu, brought together numerous academics, researchers, and civil society representatives from Türkiye and abroad. The conference featured 58 papers presented in panels addressing a wide range of topics, including politics, subjectivity and resistance, migration, literature, art, sexuality, innovative research approaches, psychology, health, family, violence, and many others. With 14 sessions and 5 workshops, the conference welcomed more than 350 participants in total. The final sessions on both days also featured panels and award ceremonies for the Dicle Koğacıoğlu Article Award and the Şirin Tekeli Research Award, which we organize annually. International Gender Studies in Turkey Conference
International Gender Studies in Turkey Conference, which we organized for the first time this year, took place at Minerva Han on 9–10 December. The conference, which opened with a keynote by Feride Acar, brought together academics, researchers, and civil society professionals from Türkiye and around the world. Over the course of two days, 20 sessions featured research on gender across a wide range of fields, including employment, ecology, technology, politics, youth, urban studies, migration, the world, art, law, and many others. With more than 300 participants, the conference featured 76 different contributions in total. The final sessions on both days also featured panels and award ceremonies for the Dicle Koğacıoğlu Article Award and the Şirin Tekeli Research Award, which we organize annually.
